A highlight of the new garden space is a living vine memorial mural painted along the north wall of the church. Leaves - so far there are 119 of them! - will be painted with the names of the community’s dearly departed - or any companion animals they would like to keep close to their heart.
People are invited to contact Elizabeth Mathers to request the inclusion of a loved one(s) name on one of the mural’s leaves. The hope is to focus on people who have local connections in our neighbourhood and/or local community. A small donation ($10-20) towards the cost of the professional sign painter is appreciated, should that not cause hardship.
A dedication ceremony is tentatively planned for All Souls Day (November 2), but don’t wait that long to drop by and see the garden! Everyone is welcome to visit this new pocket garden, and enjoy a meditative moment in the course of their day.
