A great team of decorators descended upon our Lynn Valley Village Christmas tree after church on Sunday and soon had it decked out with its "Bells of Peace" theme. Stephanie, Noa, Oscar and Henry and others were a dab hand stringing the lights, Olivia had crafted some jingle bells garlands to beat the band, and Maddy's handcrafted sparkly silver bells were soon catching the sunlight.
Those who were able repaired to the nearby Village Sushi for lunch afterwards, and some hardy souls were back that evening for the Village's official tree-lighting ceremony. Those people who chose to stay warm at home can experience the count-down magic (and a photo-bombing inflatable snowman!) by clicking on the video link below.
In between the live music and countdown, the Lynn Valley Community Association presented an outsized $3,000 cheque to the North Shore Disability Resource Centre, which is headquartered on Mountain Hwy, just north of the intersection with Lynn Valley Road. LVCA reps tell us that the money will be directed toward the creation of a new youth space that will be open to all Lynn Valley young people. Thank you, St. Clement's folk, for sponsoring a tree and helping fund this important new neighbourhood initiative!
There are lots of creatively decorated trees awaiting your viewing pleasure in the village square. St. Clement's tree is #12, just to the left of the library entrance. Ballots are available in nearby merchants if you would like to vote for your favourite tree - and the red ballot box just happens to be located right beside #12, for your convenience!
