The youth and young adult weekend at Artaban was great fun - we were blessed by good weather and even better companionship. A handful of us from St. Clement's coordinated the young adult component of the weekend, while the dedicated crew from the Diocesan Youth Movement (DYM) led dozens of young folk in a "Creation Connection" program featuring lots of music, talks, activities, worship, sports and more. It was a pleasure to meet Anglicans from across the diocese, most of whom were new to Camp Artaban and several of whom are newcomers to their local parish.
Lauren Odile Pinkney, chair of the DYM, did a splendid write-up describing the weekend, and we encourage you to give it your attention. We echo Lauren's thanks to Camp Artaban, the Diocese of New Westminster, and the Anglican Foundation of Canada, all of whom played a role in making this experience affordable for all.
The 19+ program enjoyed good conversations and games, mandala stone painting with Christie, hiking with Mark, and other camp activities such as swimming and boating. There was also plenty of free time for leisurely chats, forest walks and book reading. We sure hope this will be an annual event - especially given that next year is Camp Artaban's centennial!
(Psst! Feeling like you missed the boat? Don't worry! Artaban is planning to bring back its Harvest Weekend Sept. 30 - Oct. 2, and you can sign up now for the St. Clement's Women's Retreat Weekend October 21 -23!)
